Men take control of moving home

Men are more likely to assume sole responsibility for the financial
side of moving home, a new study has shown.
According to figures from Halifax Estate Agents, almost half (48
per cent) of men who are in relationship said they alone had taken
financial responsibility for the move.
This compares to 34 per cent of women also in relationships.
However, the decision of where to move was revealed to be more
likely to be a collaborative effort, with 65 per cent of couples
saying they had both had input into the decision.
This was even higher among younger couples in the 16-25 age range,
where 72 per cent said they had come to a joint decision over where
to live.
Gordon Edwards, managing director, Halifax Estate Agents,
commented: "Buying a house is the biggest purchase most of us are
likely to make.
"If you are deciding to sell your home, purchase a new property or
sorting the finances for a move, it's important to involve your
partner in the decision-making process."
