Homeowners concerned about energy efficiency of houses for sale

People looking to buy houses for sale in the UK are likely to be
thinking about the energy efficiency of homes, after it was
revealed that many Brits are concerned about fuel costs.
According to a report by moneysupermarket.com, 70 per cent of
people are worried about being able to afford their heating charges
during the winter.
This represents an increase of 15 per cent compared with those
surveyed last year.
The firm stated that rising fuel costs, coupled with the recent
sub-zero temperatures that have been experienced around the country
over the last couple of weeks, are likely to be the reasons behind
this surge in concern.
Scott Byrom, energy manager at the comparison website, said that
the recent hike in fuel bills "could not have come at a worse time
for cash-strapped customers".
This comment could encourage potential homeowners to check the
energy efficiency of properties for sale before committing to a
purchase, as they could save money if houses have measures such as
insulation installed.
Age UK also told people to look for insulated outside taps, which
will prevent pipes from freezing when the weather worsens, as well
as lagged lofts to stop heat escaping.
